The synthesis of optically active (S)-(+)-14- methyloctadec-1-ene, the sex pheromone of Lyonetia clerkella, is described from the readily accessible enantiomerically enriched (ee = 50%) (S)-(+)-3,7-dimethyloct-1,6-diene.
