Intragenic recombination among alleles of the adh1 gene in maize

Intragenic recombination among alleles of the adh1 gene in maize

Maydica 39(4): 265-272

Blockage of intragenic recombination between two alleles of the maize adh1 (alcohol dehydrogenase) gene has been reported. These alleles, namely Adh1 + 1F and Adh1 + 1S, encode fast and slow electrophoretic ADH1 allozymes, respectively. A potential intragenic recombinant between 1F- and 1S-like alleles was identified by restriction endonuclease analysis of 36 homologus chromosomal segments (haplotypes) that contain the adh1 locus.
