From 6 series of individual feeding experiments with Black Pied bulls fed at 1 to 1.8 x energy requirements for maintenance (538 kJ/kg0.75), relations between ME intake and liveweight gain, empty body weight gain and energy retention were quantified using non-linear regression analysis. The regression analysis made it possible to estimate requirements for maintenance.
