Extensive laboratory tests were conducted in a series of experiments to study the effects on lateral load bearing strength of wire nails in joints (for temporary and permanent structures) made using 2 species of varying density and strength group (Pinus roxburghii, Shorea robusta), varying thickness of constituent members, inclination of loading to the direction of grain of timber and face veneer orientation of plywood, and preboring the plywood component.
