Lateral oscillating veneer peeling of softwoods II. The effect of knife oscillation on lathe checks

Lateral oscillating veneer peeling of softwoods II. The effect of knife oscillation on lathe checks

Mokuzai Gakkaishi = Journal of the Japan Wood Research Society 41(5): 454-458

Veneer peeling tests of softwoods were carried out with a low-frequency knife oscillation, moving the knife laterally, to investigate the effects of knife oscillation on lathe check depths and their intervals using sugi (Cryptomeria japonica) and hinoki (Chamaecyparis obtusa) bolts. The effects were examined in relation to the annual rings at different bar openings.
