In a long-term field experiment on the use of farmyard manure (FYM) in coarse loamy (Typic Ustochrept) soil, the available selenium and total selenium content of soil were estimated at 0-15 and 15-30 cm soil depths. The available selenium and total selenium were low in FYM treated plots. The available selenium varied from 0.11 to 0.21 mg kg-1 and total selenium from 0.17 to 2.4 mg kg-1 in surface soil.
