Nutrient dynamics in Celtis australis leaves

Leaf samples were collected at monthly intervals from leaf emergence to abscission, from 7 well grown, mature Celtis australis trees in 1988. The leaves were washed, dried at 60 degrees C, ground, acid digested and analysed for N, P, K, Ca, Na, S and Mg contents. N content decreased during the season, although it remained stable from August to October. P and S contents decreased during the season. K content was fairly constant initially but decreased towards the end of the season.
