Young male indigenous x Sindhi cattle were given 1 of 4 feeds: guinea grass (Panicum maximum) cut at 4 weeks' growth and unchopped; guinea grass cut at 9 weeks and unchopped, and chopped; and rice straw treated with 2% urea solution just before feeding. Percentage feed refusal was 27.2, 57.6, 43.8 and 36.7, respectively. Average daily intake of DM was 2.89, 3.05, 3.93 and 2.78 kg/100 kg liveweight, and of digestible organic matter (OM), 1.55, 1.59, 2.05 and 1.18 kg/100 kg.
