On-farm refrigeration of ewe milk. Effect of low-temperature storage on total and psychrotrophic bacterial counts

On-farm refrigeration of ewe milk. Effect of low-temperature storage on total and psychrotrophic bacterial counts

Revista Espanola de Lecheria ( 42): 42-44

The effect of storage of milk from Manchega ewes at 4 degrees C was studied on the experimental farm at the Facultad de Veterinaria, Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona (Spain). Total bacterial and psychrotrophic bacterial counts over 10 milkings in the first lactation were 3.50 x 106 and 2.90 x 108, and over 6 milkings in the second lactation were 1.69 x 107 and 1.42 x 107 respectively.
