Response of cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) to rhizobium inoculation, date of sowing and phosphorus

In a field experiment during the summer seasons of 1990-91 at Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh, cowpeas Pusa Komal seed inoculated with Rhizobium gave a seed yield of 1.19 t/ha compared with 0.95 t without seed inoculation. The optimum sowing date was 10 Mar. Sowing early or later this date decreased seed yield significantly. Seed yield increased with up to 50 kg P2O5/ha.
