Response of soybean to nitrogen and phosphorus doses

In a field experiment on sandy loam during the kharif seasons of 1987-88 at Pune, Maharashtra, soyabeans MACS-1, seed inoculated with Bradyrhizobium, gave mean seed yields of 2.50, 2.65 and 2.68 t/ha with 0, 20 or 40 kg N/ha as ammonium sulfate, respectively. Application of 0, 30, 60 or 90 kg P2O5/ha as single superphosphate gave seed yields of 2.36, 2.59, 2.67 and 2.81 t, respectively.
