Saturated gammaceranes from the stem bark of Abies mariesii

Three previously unidentified gammaceranes, 1-3, were isolated together with three known triterpenes, gammaceran-3-beta,21-alpha-diol, hopan-3-beta,22-diol, and hopan-3-beta,22-diol, from the stem bark of Abies mariesii. The structures of these novel compounds were established as gammaceran-3,21-dione (1), gammaceran-3-alpha,21-beta-diol (2), and 3-alpha-hydroxygammaceran-21-one (3), respectively, on the basis of chemical and spectral evidence.
