Selection for NaCl tolerance of Troyer citrange

Selection for NaCl tolerance of Troyer citrange

Proceedings of the International Society of Citriculture: Volume 1 Taxonomy, breeding and varieties, rootstocks and propagation, plant physiology and ecology: 7th International Citrus Congress, Acireale, Italy, 8-13 March 1992: 400-404

Unfertilized ovules of Troyer citrange (Citrus sinensis x Poncirus trifoliata) were exposed to the mutagen ethyl methanesulfonate. Nucellar tissue was cultured to induce somatic embryos from which plants were regenerated. The regenerated population of plants was irrigated with 45 mM NaCl and screened for salt tolerance, using plant height, FW, defoliation and visual toxicity on the leaves as selection criteria. Three possible mutants were selected.
