Storage of sapota fruits in polythene bags

Storage of sapota fruits in polythene bags

South Indian Horticulture 41(6): 368-369

Polyethylene film coverings are known to enhance the shelf life of sapota fruits. In this trial, Pala fruits of uniform size and maturity were packed within 2-4 h of harvesting in polyethylene bags (6 per bag) of 100, 150 or 200 gauge thickness and 0, 0.2, 0.4 or 0.6% perforation. Controls were not bagged. All fruits were stored in ambient conditions (26-30 degrees C and 50-60% RH) for 6 days.
