In field experiments in 1986-89, at Suweon, in a maize-rye double cropping system, the heading date of rye Wintermore (early maturing) was 10 days earlier than Kodiak (late maturing). A 15-day delay in sowing delayed heading date by 3 and 4 days in the early and late maturing cultivars, respectively. DM and in vitro DM digestibility (IVDMD) increased with earlier sowing dates. Before 20 Apr. the DM and IVDMD yields of Wintermore were higher than Kodiak, however, no such differences were found after 27 Apr.
