Economic models of labour participation behaviour using cross-section data implicitly assume a symmetrical and reversible adjustment behaviour. In this study a panel of more than 50 000 Upper Austrian farm households is used to examine dynamic aspects of farmers' off-farm labour supply. In particular the paper tests whether the off-farm labour supply decision is symmetrical with respect to positive and negative wage changes.
