The insect fauna of paddy field in Aso area. II. The influence of the paddy field management on the seasonal fluctuation of rice water weevil (Lissorhoptrus oryzophilus Kuschel)

For the purpose of cultural control of Lissorhoptrus oryzophilus, an investigation was carried out in 3 paddy fields: 2 paddy fields under sustainable cultivation and one paddy field under customary cultivation in the Aso area, central Kyushu, Japan. The weevil had 2 generations in the Aso area. The adult density increased to reach a peak at the beginning of June. The density of 2nd-generation adults was low because the rice was cultivated once a year in the Aso area.
