The process and timing of embryo development in broomcorn millet

The process and timing of embryo development in broomcorn millet

Acta Agronomica Sinica 20(4): 472-475

Sections of embryos from Panicum miliaceum at different stages of development showed that embryo development could be divided into 3 stages. The first stage included division of the zygote to give a 2-celled proembryo, sequential divisions to give a rod-shaped proembryo at 1 day after anthesis, a pyriform embryo at 2 days and a tadpole-shaped embryo at 3 days after anthesis.
