Use of purified surface/stichosomal antigens of Trichinella spiralis muscle larva in the detection of naturally infected swine

Use of purified surface/stichosomal antigens of Trichinella spiralis muscle larva in the detection of naturally infected swine

Research and Reviews in Parasitology 1993; 51(1-4): 103-105

The use of purified surface/stichosomal antigens of Trichinella spiralis muscle larva for the detection of trichinosis in naturally infected swine was evaluated. Muscle tissue and serum samples were tested with ELISA and Western blot assays and the detection of muscle larvae in tissue samples was performed by acid pepsin digestion. Positive values using surface/stichosomal antigens in ELISA were only observed in serum samples of those pigs that showed muscle larvae in their tissues.
