A series of photographs of the damage caused by a curculionid to fruits of 'Hass' avocado are presented. The pest is stated to be of, or near, the genus Copturomimus and was first intercepted at an entry point to the USA in El Paso, Texas, in November 1989 in avocados from Mexico.
