The benefits of using composted and uncomposted yard trimmings in agriculture are being studied by five cooperative teams of farmers, advisors, composters and California local governments. Demonstration projects are being mounted in Tulare, Fresno and Stanislaus Counties, the Monterey Bay region and the City of San Jose. The San Jose project includes the use of trimmings in vineyard, field and row crop agriculture.
