A monoclonal-antibody-based immunohistochemical method for the detection of swine influenza virus in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues
Anti-swine influenzavirus (SIV)-enriched ascites fluid, produced using plasma cells sensitized to a combination of SIV strains PR8, NT60 and a recombinant virus, E3376, was used as a source of monoclonal antibody (MAb) for an immunohistochemical test (IHC) for SIV in paraffin-embedded tissue. Granular brown staining was detected in lung sections of experimentally infected pigs at all MAb dilutions tested (1:10 to 1:2000): a dilution of 1:1000 was preferred.
