A new European methodology for planning and managing Integrated and Ecological Arable Farming Systems: application to a Tuscan agricultural area

Explanations are given of the 5 phases of the methodology for the planning and management of low input farming systems, developed by the European Network on Integrated and Ecological Arable Farming Systems (I/EAFS). These are: defining a hierarchy of objectives; selecting parameters and methods; designing a prototype farming system; assessment and improvement of the prototype during practical trials; and spread of the use of the system.
