An improved method for stimulating sporangium production of Phytophthora cinnamomi

A dilute carrot juice broth was inoculated with hyphal discs and incubated for 18 h. The resulting mycelial mats were washed 3 times at 1-h intervals with a mineral solution and finally incubated in sterilized deionized water under fluorescent light. This treatment produced more sporangia than did 2 earlier methods.
