An integrated pest management (IPM) approach to the control of the brown garden snail, (Helix aspersa) in California citrus orchards

An integrated pest management (IPM) approach to the control of the brown garden snail, (Helix aspersa) in California citrus orchards

Slug and snail pests in agriculture Proceedings of a Symposium, University of Kent, Canterbury, UK, 24-26 September 1996: 283-287

Helix aspersa can be a major pest in citrus orchards throughout California. Not only are the leaves damaged, but high yield losses may occur. Chemical controls do not always work and are expensive. New sustainable methods are being tested with great success. The predatory snail Rumina decollata is being reared and released in many orchards for the control of H. aspersa.
