Analysis of variation in quantitative traits in lines of Indian mustard with different photoperiod response

In a laboratory study of 7 traits in 12 lines of the Brassica juncea variety Krasnolistnaya under 4 photoperiod regimes, significant interline genotypic variation was found in the traits analysed (number of leaves in the rosette, total leaf number, height of the main stem, number of second-order shoots, number of leaves on second-order shoots, number of days to flower bud formation and number of days to flowering) and the degree of variation tended to be negatively correlated with photoperiod duration. The largest contribution to phenotypic variation was made by photoperiod (28-86%), but a substantial contribution was made by genotype (5-17%) and by genotype x environment interaction (6-18%).
