Anther culture for developing rice blast (Pyricularia grisea) resistant germplasm

Anther culture for developing rice blast (Pyricularia grisea) resistant germplasm

Fitopatologia Venezolana 8(1): 11-14

Evaluation of panicle blast (PB) caused by P. grisea (Magnaporthe grisea) in the field is difficult for segregating material. Anther culture (AC) has been suggested as a way of increasing evaluation and selection efficiency of resistant lines due to the immediate homozygosity reached with this system, which facilitates identification of desirable genotypes and accelerates development of resistant materials.
