A disease, characterized by branch blight, is reported for the first time on gardenia (G. jasminoides) in Italy. The affected plants were cultivated during 1994-95 in the province of Perugia. The causal agent was isolated and identified as M. roridum on the basis of its morphological and biological characteristics and by pathogenicity tests.
