The need for basic genetic material for developing of forest improvement programmes has led the Empresa de Pesquisa Agropecuaria de Minas Gerais (EPAMIG) and other forest companies to introduce Eucalyptus pellita from 7 Australian provenances (all but 2 from Queensland) to 2 sites in Brazil - Conceicao da Barra (Espirito Santo) and Dionisio (Minas Gerais). The plantations were established in 1983, at 5x5 m spacing.
