Batch ethanol fermentation of sugar-cane molasses media by Zymomonas mobilis
The effect of nutrient addition, molasses clarification with NaH-2PO-4 cntdot H-2O, sugars concentration (55 to 145 g/L) and temperature (30 to 40 degree C) on the growth rate and ethanol production using Zymomonas mobiiis CP4 in batch fermentation process was studied. The best ethanol yields were obtained using clarified and supplemented molasses. Growth rate and ethanol production were optimum at 34 degree C and sugars concentration of 110 g/L. At temperatures up to 37 degree C inhibitory effects on growth and fermentation were observed.
