Bean production in Cuba: present situation and immediate prospects


, : Bean production in Cuba: present situation and immediate prospects. Agronomia Mesoamericana 7(2): 98-107

In Cuba, approximately 38 000 ha are used for growing beans with 9000 t sold to the state annually. The agroclimatic conditions and thus distribution and management of beans in Cuba are described. Selection of cultivars for specific purposes in different regions is discussed, together with the suitability of soils and biotic factors affecting seed production.
