Behaviour of the new red cultivar Garanoir at 2 experimental vineyards

, : Behaviour of the new red cultivar Garanoir at 2 experimental vineyards. Revue Suisse de Viticulture, d' Arboriculture et d' Horticulture 28(5): 287-290

Garanoir is a red grape cultivar obtained from a cross between Gamay and Reichensteiner made in 1970. Its performance was assessed in trials planted at Pully and Diolly in 1984 and 1989, respectively. Garanoir ripened early (earlier than Pinot noir) and was harvested on 23 September at Pully and on 30 September at Diolly. Yields were consistent; the annual average was 1.19 kg/msuperscript 2 at Pully and 1.20 kg/msuperscript 2 at Diolly. Resistance to Botrytis cinerea was reasonably good.
