Trace element deficiencies and the use of dietary copper, zinc and iron to correct the deficiencies are reviewed. It is pointed out that normal diets do not meet the human requirements for trace elements and, hence, the need for supplementary intake. Clinical aspects of Cu, Zn and Fe deficiencies are discussed.
