Non-1B/1R cytoplasmically male-sterile lines were bred by using as maternal parents male-sterile 1B/1R translocation lines with cytoplasm from the Aegilops species and as pollen parents 35 wheat varieties (lines). The male-sterile F1 progeny was backcrossed to the original pollen parent. Stable male-sterile lines were selected and test crossed with some lines to investigate their capacity for fertility restoration. Non-1B/1R male-sterile lines were identified by a study of root tip cells.
