Characteristics and virulence of Staphylococcus hyicus subsp. hyicus of exudative epidermitis of pigs

Characteristics and virulence of Staphylococcus hyicus subsp. hyicus of exudative epidermitis of pigs

Taiwan Journal of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry 66(4): 277-287

An epidemiological study of exudative epidermitis was carried out on an affected farm in southern Taiwan, with 8260 piglets being investigated during the period 1992 to 1993. The highest morbidity (27.8%) and fatality (57.5%) occurred in May, when there was an outbreak of the mastitis-metritis-agalactia syndrome in sows and gilts during the same period.
