In storage experiments with the tomato cultivars ES-58, H-2274, Tobol and Riogrande, chilling injury was limiting for fruits at the green mature and breaker stages during storage at 4 and 8 degrees C. Fruit firmness and titratable acidity decreased and soluble solids increased somewhat during storage. Generally, weight loss was more severe in fruits at an early stage of maturity and increased as storage temperature increased.
