Characterization and some properties of pheophorbidase from Chenopodium album

Some properties were investigated of phophorbidase (which catalyses the conversion of phophorbide a to pyrophophorbide a precursor, carboxyl-phaeophorbide a) from Chenopodium album. There were 2 reactions involved in the conversion from pyrophaeophorbide a to phaeophorbide a. The optimum pH for the enzyme was 7.5. The enzyme retained 80% activity at 60 degrees C and lost all activity at 80 degrees C.
