Characterization of Brazilian isolates of Xanthomonas campestris pv. vesicatoria by ribotyping and RAPD

Characterization of Brazilian isolates of Xanthomonas campestris pv. vesicatoria by ribotyping and RAPD

Fitopatologia Brasileira 22(2): 178-185

A total of 20 X. campestris pv. vesicatoria isolates from Brazil was assigned to groups A or B proposed by Stall et al. (1994) according to amylolytic activity and the occurrence of alpha or beta bands in silver stained SDS-PAGE. Analysis of other extracellular enzymes showed that pectinase and alkaline phosphatase activities were linked to amylase: all A group isolates were amy-, pho- and pec-, while group B isolates were amy+, pho+ and pec+.
