Characterization of a fungal alpha -glucosidase isolated from root of Fen Ge, a Chinese Kudzu vine, (Pueraria thomsoni Benth.)

Proceedings of the Research Society of Japan Sugar Refineries Technologists 44: 51-57

A fungus designated strain D-4 was isolated from a root of Fen Ge (Pueraria thomsoni, a cultural variation of Kudzu Vine in South China). Cultured in a medium containing maltose (200 g/litre), it produced a high yield of isomaltooligosaccharides, mainly panose. The homogenized fungal body of strain D-4 (harvested from a surface culture) contained two alpha -glucosidases (A and B).
