Characterization of a nonhypersensitive mutant and nonpathogenic mutant of Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris

Characterization of a nonhypersensitive mutant and nonpathogenic mutant of Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris

Korean Journal of Plant Pathology 13(3): 179-183

The hypersensitive responses of 18 cultivars of tobacco to X. campestris pv. campestris were screened. Cultivar TC500 produced the strongest hypersensitive response (HR) to X. campestris pv. campestris. Using NTG mutagenesis, nonhypersensitive mutants (XHN 514-774 and XHN 620-831) were generated, which did not induce a hypersensitive response on tobacco (cultivar TC500) leaves. A non-pathogenic mutant, XPN 1001, which did not incite black rot symptoms on leaves, was also generated.
