Characterization of a tobacco necrosis virus strain isolated from tomato leaves

A virus isolated from leaves of greenhouse-grown tomato exhibiting rare ringspot lesions was characterized as tobacco necrosis necrovirus and named TNV-T. TNV-T has the highest affinity with members belonging to serotype group A. A very high serological affinity was shown with the TNV-nft strain isolated from nutrient feeding solution of a Capsicum culture in a greenhouse in Germany. This was also confirmed by identifying the MW of TNV-T and TNV-nft coat protein by electrophoresis.
