Walnut (Juglans nigra x J. regia) somatic embryos were transformed with a vector containing the neomycin phosphotransferase (nptII), beta -glucuronidase (uidA) and antisense chalcone synthase (naringenin-chalcone synthase) (chs) genes. Thirteen transgenic lines were obtained. They were characterized at the molecular, biochemical and physiological levels, and compared to control lines (the initial line and a transgenic line expressing only nptII and uidA).
