Characterization of beneficial rhizobacteria of oilseed rape for biological control of Verticillium wilt

Differences in the size and composition of bacterial populations were found in the rhizosphere of oilseed rape during the vegetation period (Oct.-Jul.). The population of total bacterial cells in the rhizosphere of rape was 1.5x108 c.f.u./g on average (+/- 0.5x108)/g fw (fresh weight of the root). Population densities of total bacteria were significantly lower in autumn and winter (plant phase: leaf rosette) than in spring and summer (plant phase: anthesis and maturity).
