Characterization of follicular oocytes in rabbits. Differences due to method of oocyte recovery

Rabbit oocytes were recovered from the ovaries of non-stimulated females by aspiration or the rupture of sliced follicles. Aspiration of 104 follicles resulted in the recovery of 77 oocytes, and the rupture of 101 follicles yielded 96 oocytes, the differences between the 2 methods being non-significant for oocyte recovery rate or type of oocyte recovered.
