Characterization of humic acids isolated from an agricultural soil

Humic substances in the global environment and implications on human health: Proceedings of the 6th International Meeting of the International Humic Substances Society, Monopoli : 299-304

Humic acids were extracted from a silt loam soil (Typic Hapludoll) that had been fertilized with (15NH4)2SO4 and cropped to maize under different tillage/residue management practices for 10 years. Replicated soil treatment combinations consisted of rototill (T) or no-till (NT), and residue returned (R) or removed (NR). Soils untreated and treated for 10 years were ultrasonicated and exhaustively extracted with 0.1M Na4P2O7/NaOH under N2.
