Characterization of mutations disrupting carotenoid biosynthesis in Arabidopsis thaliana

Characterization of mutations disrupting carotenoid biosynthesis in Arabidopsis thaliana

Photosynthesis: from light to biosphere Volume IV Proceedings of the Xth International Photosynthesis Congress, Montpellier, France, 20-25 August 1995: 75-78

Four genes are described from A. thaliana whose mutation disrupts distinct steps in carotenoid biosynthesis. The pds1 and pds2 mutations define 2 loci whose mutation abolishes the ability of the plant to desaturate phytoene though neither mutation affects the phytoene desaturase enzyme directly.
