Characterization of reducing abilities of white-rot fungi by using tetrazolium salts

Mokuzai Gakkaishi = Journal of the Japan Wood Research Society 41(10): 917-924

The reduction of 6 tetrazolium salts by white-rot fungi, which occurs on the fungal cell surfaces, varies between different white-rot fungi. Culture conditions affected the reducing activity of the white-rot fungi, which was greater under nutrient-rich and neutral pH conditions. The strong tetrazolium salt-reducing fungi could. These fungi could reduce oxidized lignin model compounds effectively under conditions which stimulated the reduction of tetrazolium salts.
