Characterization of selected drug-resistant mutants of Phytophthora capsici, P. parasitica and P. citrophthora

Selectable drug-tolerance markers were developed in P. capsici, P. parasitica (P. nicotianae var. parasitica) and P. citrophthora by chemical mutagenesis. Selected metalaxyl-tolerant P. capsici and P. n. var. parasitica, p-fluorophenylalanine-tolerant P. n. var. parasitica and geneticin-tolerant P. citrophthora mutants were characterized phenotypically by colony morphology, zoospore production and pathogenicity. Most of the mutants retained the parental phenotype.
