Characterization of strains of the genus Enterococcus isolated from Egyptian Domiati cheese

10 strains of Enterococcus isolated from Egyptian Domiati cheese were characterized. Eight strains (EDO 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.11. 2.13, 2.14, 2.26, 2.27) were identified as Enterococcus faecium and 2 as E. faecalis (EDO 2.23 and 2.28) using the API 20 Strep-Test-system, Vitek system and demonstration of Lancefield group D antigen.
