Coarse land evaluation of the acid sulphate soil areas in the Mekong delta based on farmers' experience

Coarse land evaluation of the acid sulphate soil areas in the Mekong delta based on farmers' experience

Selected papers of the Ho Chi Minh city symposium on acid sulphate soils, Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam, March 1992: 321-329

Using the FAO Framework for land evaluation, a coarse land evaluation exercise is carried out for acid sulphate soil zones of the Mekong Delta, Vietnam. The Delta is divided into twelve physical zones based on soil constraints: moderate/slight, or absent acid sulphate conditions; and hydrological constraints: deep or shallow flooding, surface water salinity in the dry season; and the availability of a fresh water source for irrigation.
